Olivia Roth
I’m an observant and motivated storyteller.
This site highlights my work as a journalism student at the University of Georgia, where I’m pursuing a major in Journalism, a minor in Communication Studies, and a Certificate in Personal and Organizational Leadership. As a third-year student interested in sports media, I’m developing my skills in reporting, writing, and storytelling that capture the people and moments that make sports meaningful.

ABOUT
I’m a third-year journalism student at the University of Georgia, but my path as a storyteller started long before college. In high school, I served as executive director of the yearbook, managing social media, editing stories, and leading a staff that relied on clear communication and trust. That experience taught me how to guide a team, adapt quickly, and capture people’s stories with care. Those skills continue to shape the journalist I am becoming.
At UGA, I have strengthened those foundations through reporting on local government meetings, producing multimedia packages, and writing features that require clarity, accuracy, and attention to detail. Breaking down complex policy decisions, interviewing community members, and editing under deadline have helped me understand journalism as both a responsibility and a creative process.
Outside the newsroom, teaching yoga and working as a summer counselor have influenced my approach just as much. Leading classes has taught me how to be present, patient, and mindful of different perspectives. Working with kids pushed me to problem solve in the moment and communicate with empathy. Both roles have made me more grounded and more attuned to the people at the center of every story.
Whether I am covering local issues or exploring campus culture, I hope my work continues to connect communities and offer insight into the experiences that shape us. Looking ahead, I want to build a career rooted in thoughtful reporting, meaningful storytelling, and curiosity.
